For those of you fortunate enough not to be an architecture student (or one's wife), I thought it would be interesting to record an all-nighter (which really began Saturday morning). This particular night was spent model building.
Let's begin at 11pm, when Megan arrives in studio. (Daniel's already put in over 12 hours for the day)
11pm: Daniel is solving a particularly frustrating problem when Megan arrives, so they take a quick walk outside to get some fresh air in hopes of inspiring bright new ideas.
11:50pm: Daniel wonders if Kinko's is open... Megan (having nothing else to do since nobody is updating on facebook) heads out to find out and to pick up Daniel some dinner.
12:10am: Kinko's is closed until 8am. Daniel munches on french fries while making adjustments on his autocad blueprints.
1:00am: Model building begins! Daniel prints off the blueprints to scale from autocad and uses them as a template to cut pieces of board to the right size, then glues them together and sands the edges. This process takes hours.
2:30am: Megan gets to contribute!!! She glued the stairs together. Whoopee.3:00am: Caffeine becomes absolutely essential.
4:00am: Daniel is still cutting, gluing, and sanding. Meanwhile, Megan wins yet another game of FreeCell!!! Oh Yah!
4:15am: Daniel takes a short break to experiment with new hairstyles with photoshop. Laughter is the best medicine.
4:57 am: Daniel gets back to sanding the edges of his model.
6:06am: Megan wimps out and goes home for some shut eye.
1:30pm: Daniel finally comes home for a three hour nap.
4:30pm: back to studio for at least the evening.
Well, I think we'll stop there... this post could really continue forever, but I hope it's given you a little appreciation for what goes into studio. If you think of it, pray for Daniel this week; it's going to be a long one!
