"A Boston man is the east wind made flesh." --Thomas Gold Appleton

I really have no idea what that quote means, but if it has anything to do with cold and windy, than I believe it! We are definitely looking forward to spring here! Some nights we want to go out and explore, but it is just so cold! Despite the chill, we have made some great memories these past few weeks...

Some highlights:

1. Not many people here are very familiar with KSU, so we weren't sure if we'd be able to find a place to watch the Wildcat's basketball games, but, fortunately, there is a sports bar a couple of blocks away that has had all the games so far. I don't have a lot of personal experience with sports bars, but Daniel and Anthony say it's one of the best they've ever been to. I love the fact that it's a local spot, so the bartenders know everybody's name and drink. Our new friend Sully bought us each a drink our first night, so we feel very welcome there! Wednesday night is the KU v. KSU game... so you know where we'll be!

2. On Saturday we drove about 80 minutes to Newport, RI to see the Newport homes: the Breakers, Marble House, and Rosecliff. The first two were Vanderbilt summer homes, and it is just unbelievable the amount of money they spent to build a home they only used for three or four summers! There simply was no limit to what they could afford. (we do have pictures, but our converter broke, so we can't download them to the computer until we get a new one... hopefully soon!) Newport itself is incredibly beautiful. We want to return when it's warm to swim on the beaches, explore the seaside shopping districts, and go on the cliff walk.

3. A week ago, Daniel and I took the train to the North End of Boston, also known as Little Italy. We enjoyed a delicious dinner and walked around a little bit. We couldn't stand being outside for very long because of the cold, but we will definitely be going back one of these days! I have my eye on a few gelato places I can't wait to try...

4. A personal highlight: this has absolutely nothing to do with Boston, but I have discovered that I love coffee! If you don't know this about me, I used to hate even the smell of it! (amazing since my parents have made it every morning since I can remember.) I still need cream and sugar right now, but I just love the feeling of sitting down with a cup of coffee and reading!

5. And lastly, I got a job!!!!! It seems like it's taken forever, but today I was at last offered a full time position at a child care center. I'll be working with toddlers from 12-18 months... they are adorable! I can't wait to begin!

Understand the cold... and it's even colder in Boston, I know! We don't have any snow! Glad you guys found a sports bar... we're still looking but I got a recommendation from someone at work, so hopefully that will be nice for tomorrow night... I don't think it's the local pub type thing though... that sounds exciting! Like Cheers, except not the "real" one... better, right? :D And I am SO glad you got a job! That sounds like it will be perfect for you! And is Daniel excited about you drinking coffee? When I finally crossed over (I was the same as you), Ian was so thrilled! lol!

Hey sister! I miss you! Was thinking about you yesterday - I'm starting a book club and Erin is going to be in it. Yesterday we were both lamenting the fact that you don't live in town to be in it too. In our words, that would be "perfect." (It's a book/dinner club, so we need people we love to spend time with who like to read AND cook!) Maybe someday. :)

Um, I think I'm starting a blog, but I've told no one else about it. You are the only one (and anyone who happens to read this comment.) http://heavenboundhome.blogspot.com/

"Homemaking to kingdom come" is sort of dramatic. I'll have to explain it later. :)

Love you!
