When I logged on this weekend, I could hardly believe that I hadn't posted in over a month! Time seems to be flying by here. I apologize for the vast amounts of pictures in the last few days, but I just wanted to catch up on our life here. We are truly having a wonderful time, and this past week's weather has hinted at spring, sparking a new interest in the city. Soon we will be able to go out without a coat, hat, gloves, scarf, and long underwear! :-) The trees will fill with color, the dull gray sky will turn vibrant aqua, and the wind will bring a welcome cool instead of a sharp chill.
Daniel is still enjoying working for Ann Beha. The firm just acquired the bid for the Fine Arts Museum here in Boston, which is a very prestigious project. Hopefully Daniel will get to work on it a little bit. He is itching for an opportunity to design, however... more on that later. We continue to cheer on our Cats at the Coolidge Corner Clubhouse, but it's been a little disheartening of late. Hopefully they'll surprise us in the Big 12 tournament! Our other new addiction is Lost. We're over halfway through season 3, so that will end with the coming of warm weather!
I have been working at a childcare center as an assistant infant teacher. My experience has been much different from KSU, both in the quality of the center and the relationships with coworkers. The center I am now working at is privately run, smaller, and less structured. I was hired in the middle of a huge conflict in the infant/toddler section, so it was a stressful beginning, but I think that is improving. Infants, I have learned, are not my favorite age group to work with either, so I confess I am not quite as attached to the kids (don't get me wrong... I still love them and care for them... I just probably won't miss them). I do feel less scared to be a mom of a baby, however, so that's good! The center is only a 7 minute walk, so I do love being able to come home for lunches sometimes. A few of the other teachers are really phenomenal at their jobs, so I have learned a lot by observing. In summary, not my favorite job ever, but room to learn and grow and serve!
We feel so blessed that our family has and will be visiting us throughout our time here. We have somebody coming every month, so there's always something to look forward to. I think that pretty much brings us up to date! Ryan comes next week, so we'll soon have more picture posts to share!
