Road Trip, Y'all!

This coming week is our very last spring break... well, until Elli is a student! We may have some adjusting to do when we no longer get spring/summer/fall/and holiday break (although I think we will both gladly trade them in for weekends and evenings). Daniel is diligently job seeking this semester, but with our economy as it is, most firms say they're struggling not to lay off, much less hiring right now.

Daniel did, however, get a second interview with a firm in Texas (who is hiring!), and since neither of us have ever been to the city, we are going to drive down as a family and check it out! If you think of it, pray for us next Tuesday, Daniel especially, that the Lord would make it clear to us and the firm if this is the right place for Daniel, and that the trip would go smoothly. Hopefully we'll get a chance to see the Alamo and the river walk, and we are looking forward to highs in the 80s!

I confess I'm a little nervous about a 10+- hour car trip with an almost three month old, and I would welcome any advice you experienced mothers have out there! She's usually pretty content in her car seat as long as the car is moving, but we've never been in the car for so long.

Not to turn our blog into a prayer request, but you could also pray for me. I'm not sure how I feel about living in Texas, but I am striving to have an open mind and heart. As Dan Wolgemuth once said, I'm trying to "Carry a 'yes' in my spirit." If Texas is where the Lord guides us, than there is a good reason! There have been a few times that God decided to radically shake things up in my life, and not once have I been disappointed in his plan. On the contrary, I am experiencing more blessing and fullness than I could have ever dreamed. And yet, somehow, I'm still a little bit hesitant to trust him... silly girl.

Here's a picture of Elli in her adorable sleep sack (thanks, Auntie Sara!). I'm loving this because she is beginning to scoot in her crib, so I can never be sure the covers stay on her.

We traveled 12 hours to Philly over Christmas, Brooke was 2 and 1/2 months, so it is possible! I sat in the back seat with her just to make our lives easier, and that really helped. She slept for a majority of the trip, but we did stop every 2 or so hours to nurse her. I did not bring bottles and I am glad I did not because it gave us all a break. I would carry her around the rest stop, let her look around, and put her back. I also put a movie on the portable DVD player and she watched that as well!

If I had a choice, I would have chose to travel at night, since she would have slept the whole time. But Dustin worked the day before and needed sleep.

Sweet Elli is just too cute for words!!! I just love her!!!

I'll be praying for you guys this coming week!!!

And in reply to your comment about trading breaks for nights and weekends ... you'll be surprised how soon you'll start going to bed at 9 p.m. Making the switch from student life to work life is pretty brutal at first! It took me a good year before I was able to find a routine that fits me.

Speaking of which, I should have been asleep more than 45 min ago!! =D (But I got to babysit a sweet little boy tonight--even if he did sleep most the time!) =D

Love you guys! Blessings on the trip!

You got it! She looks absolutely adorable in that little pink sack (but I think she looks cute no matter what she is wearing!).

I'll be excited to hear how Texas goes. Sounds like it could be exciting! Tell Daniel good luck for me.

p.s. the elli announcements are super cute and it is proudly displayed on my fridge :)

We'll be praying for you guys! This is definitely something we can relate to... Boston and Philly both told us to talk to them again in April because they don't know yet if they can hire. And Elli is just so adorable! :) Good luck with your first big family road trip!!
