San Antonio (Spring Break, Part II)

Our trip to Texas was over in a flash, but we made the most of every minute! The drive from Kansas was about twelve hours with stops to feed Elli. She was as good as gold! Only once did we have to pull over because she just couldn't handle it (or maybe we couldn't!), and she slept for almost all of the trip!

We spent the night with some friends of Daniel's family, although only the husband, Jeff, was in town. They not only let us spend the night there, but graciously let us use their baby gear for Elli! Thank you, Jeff and Dianne! Hopefully Elli and I will get to meet the rest of the family at some point.

The lunch and interview were scheduled at noon, so we arrived in plenty of time to grab a cup of coffee together before it began. The interview went great, and Daniel really liked the people, atmosphere, and projects at the firm. We both feel it would be an incredible opportunity to begin his career there. We left feeling peace that the our future is in God's hands, and now we are waiting to see if he opens this door to us.

Afterward the interview, we ventured downtown to see the Alamo and River Walk. Because we were so focused on the interview, we had forgotten that it was spring break and, oh yes, St. Patty's Day! So the river walk was crowded and green!

The Alamo was our last stop, and Elli was getting pretty tired by that time, so we didn't get to spend much time there. If we do return, I'd love to go back and actually read the signs and learn more about the Battle for the Alamo.

Elli was pretty content in her carrier for most of the afternoon, although it was probably pretty warm for her! If you've ever read the comic Get Fuzzy, she looked just like Bucky Cat in his carrier. Without holding the front down, all you could see were her two dark eyes peering over the top... and sometimes not even that, because her hat was WAY too big for her! It kept falling down over her eyes, and then when I put sunscreen on her, it would stick to her. We were constantly adjusting it.

Here we are on the River Walk. Because it's below street level, it's cool and shaded, which was a nice relief from the 90 degree temps above.
Whenever we take Elli outside, she loves to stick her tongue out, especially if it's breezy. I guess she likes the feel of air moving over her tongue, but it is hilarious!

What a sweet little girl! We're looking forward to hopefully meeting next week (cross our fingers)! Considering the fact that we may have a blizzard, maybe San Antonio is sounding better and better... We're praying for you guys!
