Mornings

Thank you to all the mommies who gave me advice on sleep for Elli.  There were so many great ideas, and more than anything it was so encouraging to hear that this is normal!  One week later, I am so (so so so so so) happy to report that her nights have been AWESOME!  Moving bedtime back an hour and giving her a snack right before has worked like a charm.  Elli has been sleeping from 8:30pm to 7 or 7:30am every night!  On Monday I even had to wake her up at 8!  Wowzers... I feel like a new woman!  Our mornings are peaceful again.  Fun even...

They've been looking a whole lot more like this:

Sigh... so much better!  Elli has been waking up happy and playful.  She loves to snuggle and read with her Daddy.  Nap time is still day by day, but like many of you recommended, we're persevering and hopefully those will even out as well.

Caroline continues to be a great sleeper and seems to really love these slow mornings too!  I've never seen anybody wake up so happy as she does.  Even though she must be hungry, she still wakes up smiling so big that it makes her whole body squirm!  Oh, my heart just melts when she looks at me with those big brown eyes!

Side note - the morning I had to wake Elli up, I took Caroline with me and just laid her down next to Elli.  She was in a chatty mood, so Elli woke up to her.  She smiled sleepily, put out her arm to hug her, and said, "My sweet Yai-Yai."  My heart nearly burst.

That's great, Meg! Even though Kitty is only 1, I've been surprised how often earlier or more frequent sleep was the answer to our problems :)
