O Christmas Tree

For the past two years, we've bought our tree from a tent behind Hobby Lobby that ships in "fresh-cut" trees from Oregon. Our trees were always beautiful, but I have lots of warm and fuzzy memories of picking out that perfect tree and cutting it down with my parents. So this year I found a tree farm, and made the beautiful hill country drive out to find our tree.

Caroline fell asleep in the car on our way, but she perked up once the hayride began.

A totally forced picture of the girls. They're both saying "cheese," but yeah, that doesn't seem to be working anymore.

The girls played hide and seek with Daddy for awhile, and then helped pick out the perfect tree. Actually, Elli picked out multiple perfect trees. :)

We tried something a little different this year - we bought a living tree that we will plant after we light and decorate it. I'm excited to get a new tree out of it, but there are a few drawbacks. First of all, it is heavy, and secondly, it will probably only do well for a couple of weeks inside before we need to plant it. That works for us, however, because we would have to take it down before we leave for Christmas anyway.

The girls were both delighted to decorate the tree. Most of the ornaments we have are my own, but I love seeing their collection grow each year, knowing that someday they will hang them on their own tree with love.

My loves! Oh, this is going to be the best Christmas yet!
