New York, New York

Ryan came to visit this past week on his spring break, and for the weekend, we all drove to New York. A first for all of us, and only there for a day and a half, we tried to see some of the major sights. I've posted some pictures, but our favorite parts were just walking around and experiencing the city. Saturday night we were able to go see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, which was incredible! Here are a few other highlights:

Central Park

We started the day by walking along Central Park. The weather was just warm enough to be comfortable without coats, so there were lots of people out walking, running, biking, throwing a ball around, etc.
Ryan was only a little excited.
Ryan and I taking in the view from one of the hundreds of benches.
Once again, only a little excited.
I thought the tree was beautiful, and you can see
the American Museum of Natural History on the left.

The Hearst Tower

A Norman Foster restoration project of an old sixth story building turned into a skyscraper. Daniel says that it's a great example of sustainable design. The interior was gorgeous!

Times Square

There's nothing quite like the busy, noisy, colorful Times Square.

At night:

Trinity Church

We were fortunate enough to get to Trinity Church while the choir was rehearsing for the Palm Sunday service. This may be one of my favorite stops, simply because the music was so beautiful. We didn't have time to stay for the service, but I'm so thankful we got a taste of it!

Ground Zero

I suppose this would have been even more powerful had we seen it before 9/11,
but the huge empty pit was enough.
