Baby G is Growing!!!

Tomorrow marks 20 weeks in this pregnancy, which means we're half-way there! I have finally started to grow a little bit! I can still wear some of my regular clothes without too much discomfort, but at the rate I'm growing, they'll be packed away very soon. My mom sent me a package of a few maternity clothes this week, just to get me through, and I am so thankful! I never knew how comfortable elastic waistbands could be! We take our weekly "belly pic" on Mondays, so I'll post tomorrows for you to see!

The most exciting news about baby, though, is that Daniel felt him/her move this weekend! I have been feeling little kicks and somersaults for a while now, but only on the inside. When I realized that I could now feel them on the outside, I couldn't wait to share them with Daniel. I can't help but smile every time I feel one, it's a reminder that our little guy/gal, although entirely dependent on me at this point, is a person who moves and thinks and feels and wills all on his/her own. Oh man, I can't wait to meet him/her.

And, speaking of the "him/her" issue... we are still planning on waiting for the birth to be surprised! We look forward to that "It's a __" moment, and I love the anticipation! I will say though, I'm beginning to understand the cost of our decision to wait. People are constantly trying to guess, which is great (and sometimes pretty hilarious), but I'm having to learn to be gracious (and put aside my vanity) when people share their reasons. Here are a few examples:

Guesser: "I can just tell, it's a __."
Me: "Well, you've got a 50/50 chance, so you may just be right!"

Guesser: "What was the heartbeat?... That high? Oh, then it's a __ for sure"
Me: "Maybe, but four weeks later it was on the lower end of the scale, so maybe baby was just getting in a workout?"

Guesser: "You're not craving sweets? Oh, you're totally having a __"
Me: "Well, it's kind of hard to crave anything when you know it'll just be coming right back up!"

Guesser: "Oh, it's definitely a __ because your face has changed a lot."
Me: "Oh, really? How changed? Like, in a good or a bad way?"

and my personal favorite...
Guesser: "It's definitely a __ because you're gaining in the back... you can totally tell you're pregnant from the back."
Me: "Um... Thank you?"
