Yesterday was Elli's seven month birthday! It took both of us to get her picture this month... one to hold the camera, and one to spot the baby. She is on the move this month! Rolling and scooting, diving, lunging... she's learned how to get places. And once she gets there, wherever there may be, whatever it is she was going there for goes straight into her mouth, whatever it may be! (Did that make any sense?)
As she's become mobile, her personality has really begun to shine! She is playful, spunky, curious, social, and sweet! When we skype with her grandparents, she has begun to interact with them, playing peek-a-boo and smiling at them. Elli loves to watch herself in the mirror and laughs hysterically when she gives herself kisses. She is quite the little chatterbox, her favorite sounds being "da da da" and "ba ba ba." My favorite game that we play is when I'm holding her, I'll make that "oohhhh" sound and then give her a big ol' kiss on the cheek, and she'll laugh and then turn towards me and give me a big ol' slobbery kiss on my cheek! We go back and forth like that.
Elli newest foods are bananas, pears, butternut squash, and kale. So far she has liked everything I've given her, although bananas took a little longer. Maybe she didn't like the slimy texture? She drinks well from her sippy cup, but hasn't learned yet how to tip it back by herself. And as you've seen, she's tried cheerios. I think only one or two have actually made their way into her mouth, but she is practicing her pincer grasp.
We found her once sitting up all by herself in her crib, but I haven't seen her try that again yet. Her favorite toys this month have been her stuffed animals and (of course) her bath toys. I'm guessing they must feel really good on her gums. I keep thinking she must be close to cutting some teeth, what with all the chewing and drooling and sometimes an increased fussiness, but so far nada.
We are having the time of our life with her, and it's crazy how quickly the days are flying by! It seems to us that she's beginning to look more and more like a toddler and less and less like an infant.
