I am so excited to be in the second trimester and slowly feeling more and more like it! Week fourteen was a miserable week - I came down with some kind of stomach flu, and the combination of that and morning sickness was not pretty. So not pretty, in fact, that I ended up spending Monday night in the ER getting re-hydrated and medicated. Thank goodness for Zofran, is all I can say. :) Since that horrible week, I've felt much better, however. The nausea is fading slowly away, and I've had more energy than I've had in a long time! Energy to catch up on ironing, bake pumpkin muffins, and make some Christmas ornaments for our tree.
I decided to start taking pictures, although it's far from amazing... bad lighting, awkward subject (when is it not awkward to take a picture of yourself?), the weird hand placement which is supposed to be me pointing at my bump, and finally - the fact that there isn't much bump to be seen, but you've got to start somewhere, I guess! The best part of the last few weeks has been feeling our little munchkin move! Always a great reminder that this will all be worth it in the end.
Baby is about 4 inches long and 2.5 ounces this week, about the size of an apple! Although his/her eyelids are still sealed shut, he/she is sensitive to light, which just makes me want to get the flashlight out and give baby a show! The legs are stretching out longer than the arms now, and his or her tiny little heart is pumping about 25 quarts of blood a day!
