When did this girl get so old? Yesterday Elli lost her first baby tooth, and her adult tooth is already popping through.
She got her baby teeth so late that I thought she would probably lose them a little later too; so I was pretty surprised on Saturday when Elli informed me that she was getting a tooth. Sure enough, one of her bottom teeth was about to fall out, and another is not far behind.
Pulling loose teeth is Papa's specialty (one I'm more than happy to give him the honors of doing), so last night we called him to see if he could come over. Elli was a little nervous, but mostly excited.
The tooth was so loose it came out without hurting, although I think the funny feeling of a hole in her mouth took her off guard.
She was pretty excited to put her tooth under her pillow for the tooth fairy last night, and seemed pretty content with her four quarters. What is the going rate for teeth these days?
Cara insisted that she too is getting a tooth, but thankfully we've got a few years before I need to worry about that... I've already shed a few tears over my first baby growing up too fast. I never thought I would be the kind of mom to keep their teeth -- I'm a little squeamish about such things -- but you'd better believe that tiny tooth has a special place in my jewelry box.
