(Oops, forgot to publish this one... Charlie is closer to two months now than one, but these pics and post are from six weeks.)
Already one precious month has passed, and it's been a wonderful one. (Actually more than that; I'm a little behind... she's six weeks today!) Charlie has continued to be a wonderful baby. At her one month appointment, she was 9lbs 11oz, so she's obviously eating well, and on average she sleeps about six hours at night, occasionally longer.
At three and a half weeks, she got to travel to Nashville to meet the rest of her aunts and uncles. Apparently she likes to travel, because she gave us her first real smiles on the flight there. The sweetest moment was when we got home, though, because as soon as she saw/heard her big sisters, she could not stop smiling! I love it that she recognizes them already.
She is working hard at head control, and has started reaching for objects or people around her. Elli and Cara have both lost a few hairs learning the hard way that her grip is strong. :) Just like her big sisters, Charlie held on to her umbilical cord for nearly a month! She hated bath time until she could actually sit in the bath, but now it's one of her favorites.
Speaking of her big sisters, they continue to be quite hands-on. They want to see, touch and kiss her all the time. A common phrase in our house right now is, "Give her some space," along with, "Please don't touch her head," and "Gentle, please." Their love is just so intense sometimes! :)
Charlie, your daddy and I pray that you will grow in the Lord's light and love; that you would follow him at a very young age; that you won't remember a day without his presence. Your name means "free woman of faith," and we pray that you would enjoy and serve out of the true freedom only found in Him (John 8:36, Galatians 5:1, 13), full of His Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:17), and that you would invite others into that freedom through your life (Luke 4:18). We pray for your relationship with your sisters, that your bond (of physical family, but also as sisters in Christ, we pray) would be strong - a cord of three, not easily broken - (Ecc 4:12); that you would spur each other on towards love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24); and that you would be devoted to one another in love (Romans 12:10).
We love you so much, darling, and our family is so blessed by you already!
