After our successful trip to the orchard, we got right to work making our apple pie. While Caroline took a little rest time, Elli and I prepared and chilled the crust; peeled, cored and sliced the apples; and mixed in all the sugar and spices.
Working with just Elli was a sweet time and a good reminder to me that special one-on-one time with my girls is so important, even if my "efficient" side protests.
When we had everything ready, Cara got to make the top of our pie, using autumn cookie cutters.
Of course, sampling was her favorite part. :)
Well, actually, I think it was all our favorite parts, because who has time to take a photo of the finished product when there's hot apple pie to eat?!?
